Larissa Bacellar

Larissa Bacellar is a master’s student in the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal Fluminense University (PPGAU-UFF). Architect and Urban Planner graduated from the same institution (2014) and holds a postgraduate specialization degree in Neuroarchitecture from Faculdade Unyleya (2022).
Her research focuses on the correlations between the physical characteristics of the urban environment and the affective response of its inhabitants — specifically, how the morphology of public spaces can influence well-being and quality of life in cities. Her main research interests include:

•  Neuroarchitecture/Neurourbanism: application of neuroscience to architectural and urban design, focusing on the study of the brain, to understand how the built environment affects people’s behavior, emotions, and cognitive functions;
•  Environmental Psychology: an interdisciplinary field that studies the influence of the built environment on people’s mental health and well-being;
•  Urban Morphology: the role of streets and buildings in restorative urban environments and in recovering from stress caused by city life;
•  Visual Perception: analysis of how individuals process and interpret stimuli and forms of the city;
•  Urban Quality of Life: physical, mental, and social well-being of inhabitants, influenced by the impact of urbanization and the built urban environment.
