Agatha Knox Figueira is an architect and urbanist, and a researcher in the field, having focused mainly on urban mobility since graduation. Graduated in architecture and urbanism at UFRN (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte), completed a masters in the same institution and area; and is currently enrolled in the architecture and urbanism phd course at UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense). Her research focuses on relations between built form and human dynamics and behaviour, especially the aspects of active mobility and bikeability, but also exploring the effects of accessibility, visibility and social vigilance on urban environments and behaviour. Her main research interests are:

•  Urban active mobility: mobility where the movement force is exercised by the human body, in spite of a motor, or other animal traction.
•  Bikeability: how can cities stimulate the use of bikes and amplify their participation on cities’ urban transport shares.
•  Accessibility and natural movement theory and its impacts on space production and economic dynamics such as land prices.
•  Visibility, social vigilance and behaviour in urban spaces.
